The Outpost was built in the 1920’s as a pool hall in Darwin, California. It was enlarged and converted into a cafe in 1929. The service station sold both unleaded gasoline and a special mixture for turbo powered engines. The building was also a United States Post Office. Today, Darwin is a ghost town with less than 50 residents.
